Yo! ![]() Two recent events shocked and surprised me. Made me lose faith in people when it happened. Now, I believe it was subterfuge that shaped both of them. Last thing first, how could we re-elect Bush! My only explanation is that we're very gullible, eager to believe the best of our politicians (no, they're not our leaders), waiting with bated breath and Pavlovian anticipation for the mention of words like democracy and freedom to justify our greedy, imperialistic intentions. Secondly, the Iraq war. No question about subterfuge in this event. The massive marketing that went into its production, all the evidence (downplayed by the American media of the foregone decision to invade) that has recently cropped up about fixed intelligence and cherry-picking etc. What people still don't get about it was that it was mostly about oil. Ask Ted Koppel (surprise, surprise) and Kevin Phillips, the former GOP strategist, and of course every peak-oil'ist. It was undertaken to protect the "American way of life" -- codewords for "although the world is running out of oil, we still need to be able to enjoy the simple pleasure of driving our SUVs 50 miles each way to enjoy a meal (based on cheap industrialized food products prepared by cheap foreign labor) in a restaurant manned by cheap immigrant labor." While we're busy anguishing about the state of the world, special mention must be made of the national debt, which looks ready to push the dollar down and inflation up...what! will the high U.S. standard of living come down...looks quite inevitable to me.
If you want more such rants... Enough about the world. What about me? :) Well, I'll write my biography on my epitaph. But, with my writing, you can probably glean some things about me. Ah drudgery...do I really have to go through his writing, you say. You may be entertained...or at least you can laugh at me (these don't include the news articles I wrote in my stint in the SB Independent). I am part of two nonprofits - For The Future and Child Vikaas International. Together, they nicely balance my interests. For the Future is an activist advocacy organization interested in building sustainability, recognizing that Peak Oil is around the corner. CVI is a charitable organization helping projects in India for children. A t-shirt I made for the peace movement. Some South Indian recipes from my aunt.
